Lulin 27-2-2009

Hi All,

Got up at 4am for this one.

Imaged through a Skywatcher ED80, using a Nikon D300. 10 x 2 minute frames stacked in CCDStack. Autoguided on the comet using a Meade 10" RCX400 (for sale in the classifieds!) and a DMK21AF04 camera using PHD.

Imaged through Melbourne haze that seems ever present ATM.

Easily spotted in the finderscope.

Cheers
Stuart

Nicely done, Stuart.

Is the tail disappearing already or do you need to go for much longer/deeper to pick it up?

Hi Mike,

I think you have to go longer, or use a more sensitive camera.

Two minutes was about all I could use as by then the background had turned a horrid brown colour from the haze and light pollution. Maybe a dark sky site would be best!

Driving in to work this morning showed how bad the haze/smoke is...

Attached picture is coming over the Westgate, you can barely see the city.

Cheers
Stuart
