CG-5GT with tripod price dropped

Currently Under offer
(I was away for a while and recieved few PMS, I will be honouring the first offer based on the time of the pm i recieved.)

I have upgraded my mount to EQ6 PRO (additional weight requirement due to astrophotography) and CG-5GT needs to go. This mount hasn't been used more than 20 times and tracks well when polar aligned correctly. Please note that in highest slew speed CG-5 is more noisy compared to other mounts. Its not terribly noisy but you will notice the diffrence if you have used EQ5 or equiv.

2 x counter weight is included.

Asking for $600 or any good offer that might interest me.

Price drop: asking $500

Cg-5gt

Hi, do you know if this combo would be sufficient for a 10-inch Newt, for observing purposes only (i.e., not serious photography)? I've heard various opinions to the effect that it would be adequate for 20kg, but also that an EQ6 would be required.

Cheers.

For 10" newt first of all you will need a 3rd counter weight. I used it with my 10" newt C10N and i found it just ok for observing. Many says 8" performs best on CG5 and 10" is its limit. I found that if i treid to mount my heavy DSLR on it then it would take longer to settle the vibration.

Hi, when you say that with your DSLR it took longer to settle, did you mean the DSLR was hooked up to the 10" or on its own with a camera lens? I wanted to try out imaging and was thinking about an ED80/camera lens with DSLR and possibly guide scope. Will this type of mount be sufficient in terms of weight handling and stability.
Thanks very much.
