New AviStack v1.74 now with wavelets!

Dear all,

I have uploaded a new version of AviStack on its homepage:
www.avistack.de
Version 1.74 now includes wavelet sharpening and level adjustment. These tools are fully usable but mostly meant to be a preview on what will be included in version 2.00 which will be released in a couple of weeks time.

The wavelet-sharpening-tool was developed by Joe Zawodny with kind support from the Registax programmer Cor Berrevoets.

Joe and me are very keen to get input from you. Please post it here or in the AviStack Group.

You can find a description on how to use the wavelet-sharpening-tool by clicking on this link. You can either use the tool at the end of the processing chain or simply load a single image using the "Load images" option from AviStack's file menu.

Other improvements:
  • New AVI file picker (much faster than the old one).
  • No AVI file size limit. AS detects *all* frames within an AVI.
  • The "out of memory" bug when setting reference points has been resolved.
Have fun with it!
Michael

Thanks Michael, I have had some excellent results with the original version of your excellent software on old data.

I finally managed to get out last night and captured a couple of AVI’s of the Moon and although the altitude was low, I look forward to punching them through your new release once I have downloaded and installed it.

I also managed to split Sirius A and B earlier in the evening at the zenith, so I’ll punch those AVI’s through as well, to exercise the program on double stars.

Cheers

Dennis

Just a follow up note for Michael of AviStack.

The avi’s of the Moon were relatively poor (despite the seeing being sufficient to split Sirius A & B) so there is little merit punching them through Avistack. The one I did process looked quite average and probably would not display the true capabilities of AviStack.

Reading the Manual was very helpful and I was glued to the screen as I saw the application aligning and stacking frames with over 1000 alignment points!

Here’s looking forward to some steadier conditions where I am able to exercise AviStack on some decent data.

Thanks for a remarkable application!

Cheers

Dennis
