Simultaneous guiding and capture?

Hi All,

Just wondering if it is feasible to guide with my DMK and IC Capture, using Alls Reticle, while Running Images Plus 3.60 camera control to control my Canon 450D piggy back on my scope all on the same laptop.

Regards
Trevor

Have you considered autoguiding with the DMK Trevor?

Thanks Mike,
Nice to know that such experienced astro imagers go about things this way. Gives me confidence in having a go at it.

Hi Paul,

I have a Anssen Technologies dual axis drive & Drive corrector. I have had it for 15 yrs and it is superbly engineered and very reliable. It does have the ability to be converted to autoguide, however Peter Mellander has moved on from supplying amateur equipment and now does work for the professionals around the world. I am pretty sure he no longer has the parts to adapt. I spoke to him about this recently, he says it is a simple task to make it auto guide but I am not confident enough to pull on that sort of work on my drive corrector and Peters electronics people that used to build the amateur equipment have moved on.

When I start prime focus work I will use the off axis guider I used to use for my 35mm film astro work and hand guide the exposures.

Regards
Trevor
