Eta Carina event predicted Jan 11 2009

Hi,

Found this while browsing for good Eta Carina Neb pics to
compare my own shot's colour balance to:

http://www.skyandtelescope.com/commu.../26181804.html

and here for the Portuguese site:
http://www.etacarinae.iag.usp.br/

Probably nothing that a mere amateur could see (a new binary companion discovery ), but we may see Eta Carina go supernova! Who knows!

Might be worth imaging Eta in the next few nights just in case the
night sky turns white on Jan 12

Pic attached: close up of Eta and a wisp of Humunculous visible in one
of my best luminosity shots from Dec 02 2008

regards,
Steve B

Great pick up Steve... I'll keep my eye out for a brightening in the clouds! lol..

Interesting read.. its times like this I wish I had a smaller, mono chip and BVIR filters... would be just the ticket for imaging something along these lines I think..

Cheers for the link mate
Alex.
