Lambda Centauri (Running Chicken)

Lambda Centauri, a combination of 10 X 10 minute exposures fully calibrated with Darks, Flats and Bias files.

Telescope: Takahashi FS 102 with Tak focal reducer.
Camera: QHY8 Cooled CCD
Guiding: ED80 and QHY5 (QGuider)

Hope you like it.

I still can't see the chook.

Damn lot of stars there. Hard to see the chicken from the chicken **** (just joking). Must try this one - plenty of red! Well done Doug.

probably one of the most undershot peices of sky as its just such an interesting area, Ha emissions, bok globules, even some nice wispy reflection surrounding the cluster in the main neb area. youve been a busy lad lately.

Very nice shot Doug and plenty of stars i there.
Even the chicken pointed out by Mark doesnt look much of a chicken, unless it has been run over by a semi trailer

great pic Doug. but like the others have said. we should call it Road KIll nebula. i'll 2nd the notion.

atalas, maybe you could photoshop an outline over the image of the chicken.

Good start.

Right hand side seems out of focus so you probably have some part of the imaging train tilting/sagging.

Also Tak reducers have a metal back distance from the last piece of metal on the reducer to the chip. From memory it is 106.2mm. You can verify that on the Tak Uncensored Yahoo group - Art or Fred will know.

Also the stars are mostly white so there is some colour there to coax out.
The stars are a bit dominant and distract from the nebula so perhaps tuning them down a bit would also help.

A simple solution is Noel Carboni's Photoshop actions. One is "increase star colour".
