Comet Collision!

Just saw an ad on Discovery - on Sunday September 4 7:30pm they've got a program about the Deep Impact collision, by the looks of it.

Must watch viewing, I'd reckon.

Mike,

A few weeks back, astronomers involved in observing Deep Impact all linked up (either in person or linked) to discuss the mission. Next month, in the journal Science, there will be a paper that discusses some of the findings.

Not sure if the Discovery show covers that meeting (thanks for the heads up) but I'll see if I can grab a copy of that paper in Science next month and convey any news.

Here's a press release that covers some of the material that was published in the journal Science today.

Absolutely awesomely successfull mission - I saw that show on foxtel and it was strange - seemingly a patchwork of other shows i have seen before stitched together (very well tho) with that new bit in the middle - still very enjoyable!
btw does that mean you won the competition on guessing the make up of 9P successfully?
