A flying horse

Had a funny day chatting with folk but when inteligent design came up I thought now if you really wanted to design something real intelligent why not a pigeon large enough to saddle and fly off into the wild blue and beyond.

Of course they must be tame and not prone to picking out the eyes of the rider and trained not to soil the country side ..but I really would like one.

Yes still wet here/..

Wha???, an eagle would be more appropriate methinks, given they have eyesight several orders of magnitude better than humans. I mean evolution endowed us with eyes, counter intuatively, that have the bood vessles on the surface impedeing seeing efficiency due to an evolutionary cock up whereby a difficult to correct mechanical reverse "fold" occurred sometime ago that rendered seeing far worse than optimum for humans. Evolution resolved the issue eventually by a "cord" to the interior that created the "blind spot" we all suffer. Its an engineering cock up that is totally contrary to the ID mantra of perfect design, but easily explained with evolution. Eagles dont suffer this problem, they have eyesight that didnt suffer this reverse evolutionary balls up.

As a 'dyed in the wool' Tolkienist I'll go with the eagles.

Years ago I visited a mate who was "as high as" ...he took me out the frount to his fish pond and said imagine if you were only 3 inches "big"...now imagine how much fun it would be to go down into the fish pond..a whole new world..even though he was "off his face" ..as they say in that world..I gleened the prospect of what it would be like to be smaller..the fish now were huge..the world of the pond enormous...and so I think it was his "off the face" suggestions that really got me thinking about the prospect of pigeons as a means of personalised flight...
He was a Hari Chrisna priest of all things....nice fella but had his problems....his sister was real nice..I liked her so much.
