ToUcam with Long Exposure Mod
I recently acquired a couple of ToUcams, one which sold immediately, and this one which has eveidently had the long exposure modification done.
When I received it the wire and switch had come adrift, so I sent it to an electronics friend who replaced/repaired it.
I have not checked the long exposure capability, and cannot comment on whether it actually works or not.
The camera is a ToUcam 840 pro, so the "silver" rectangular shape.
Priced at AU$200 posted to Ozzie.

Good price! If I had a mount that kept something in the same spot for more than a second I'd jump on it.

the imaging software desire or k3ccd wull tull you straight away by trying to take a 2 or 3 second image with the swutch flucked over.
That is a very good price if it is working. Asimov might very interested, but he does need a luptop!

Ice/Kojak,
thanks. It was part of a package a while back. I did wonder about using it myself, and may do if nobody grabs it.
Right now I simply can't be blowed even trying it.
Mind you if I establish that it does in fact work, I may screw the price up a bit.
Time will tell.
I see a thread by Beren, so maybe he will have a look, and I have already spoken to John (asimov).

nah, my mount is fine for solar system objects but for long exposures it's just not accurate enough.
Or maybe that's me not being accurate enough when I align it.

Hi all,
I have just tried it, albeit in daylight, and in the kitchen, but it works, and works a treat.
I have decided to try it myself at night first. Of all the gear I have (and I DO have some gear!!) it is low dollar, so it makes sense to try it for real.
I do have a vastly different camera, which Mike tried, and I had illusions of using all the time, except it DEMANDS a very powerful computer. This may be a better proposition to sell off. (Mike??)
Sorry all,
Gary
