Smile Movember

I should have posted this at the start of the month, but better late than never.

This month men all over Oz are growing a caterpillar on their top lip in a good cause - to raise money for prostate cancer research and for 'Beyond Blue', the men's mental health organisation. Here at work quite a few blokes are walking around looking like porn stars for these worthwhile causes. Perhaps they are at your workplace too.

I've just put my hand in my pocket and parted with some of my hard-earned money and I encourage all of you to do likewise. I know every second day one charity or another is after your money but I do feel strongly about supporting Beyond Blue. I've suffered depression and, like most men, I didn't seek help until too late - I had a total nervous breakdown which flattened me for 6 months. I'd like to hope that no one else ever has to go through what I went through.

You can donate at http://au.movember.com/

If there isn't a team you know can I suggest you donate to the U Mo W team? The team leaders surname is Buckman (not me).

Good thing you're doing mate! I'm only just beginning to take an interest in life again after depression - scary to think now that it could have ended a couple of time's during the last year, and i fully respect how hard it is to get over when it all seems so logical at the time. And how could something logical be an illness?

Donated to the cause a few weeks ago - my mate's 'mo has turned into a fully fledged 'chopper Reid' - looks hilarious!

Good luck to you buddy

Already donated to a team at work, both very worthwhile causes.

Its a fantastic cause, i've been struggling this year with depression and barely left the house for 8 months and have only just begun to get on top of it so i've been donating to some of my mates at uni who are running a team.

Glad to know you've been able pull yourself up Greg, it is scary to look at the ways i used to think and the thoughts i was having something i hope that we can keep others from experiencing.
