Huge thunderstorms coming SEQ

Here we go again, time to batten down the hatches and unplug the computers.
The thunder is making my house shake.

My son (in grade 1) made a rain gauge as a school science experiment yesterday, and put it in the garden yesterday afternoon. It recorded 115mm in 5 hrs overnight!

Our "official" rain gauge recorded about 96mm overnight, and 248mm over the last week! No damage for us though.

Cheers,
Stephen

We had some heavy rain and lightning/thunder through the night. One or two loud and close lightning strikes. But everything looks ok this morning

"Gatton had 164 millimetres, then at Glenawe they got 171, the highest one is at Tallegalla that had 243 millimetres - just south of that Rosewood had 208 millimetres," he said.

"The heavy rain really occurred in a period of about two to three hours."

Ten inches (in the "old money") over three hours That's rain!

We had a fair bit of rain here.
I had to negotiate flowing causeways to get the kids to school this morning, and detour a flooded creek to get to town.
Took some photos of the bridge in town, and the creek is still rising. It will be a few more hours before it starts to go down.
With luck I won't be able to get to work this afternoon.

The creek is up a couple of metres I guess. Can't say exactly how much.
