Gemini and GPUSB issues

Hi all,

I've done a search on here for "Gemini GPUSB" and have noticed that some people had similar issues to what I'm having.

Scenario:

I have a Losmandy G-11 with Gemini level 4 (newer DIN-type connectors), and a GPUSB with proper cable supplied by Doug of Shoestring Astronomy. USB cable in laptop, other end is in the GPUSB; guide cable from GPUSB directly into the Autoguiding port on the Gemini.

I am simply trying to use the GPUSB Check application to ensure everything works fine. The LEDs turn on and off, however, when I click the buttons to move the mount in RA and declination, nothing happens. The Gemini is set to Photo Mode and the guiderate has been set to 0.5x and even 0.8x.

The GPUSB has worked in the past with my old Meade LX90 LNT that I no longer own.

I checked the voltage readings (as suggested in a thread on the Shoestring Astronomy forums) using a multimeter and everything seems to check out as they should.

The closest I came to a similar problem on IceInSpace is the one that Paul (1ponders) had, but, his was with an older style Gemini with the RJ-45 connectors and was resolved by using a different guider.

I have tried hooking everything up and running PHD Guiding in simulated mode, but, I receive an error after the first calibration step -- W calibration. The error is that the star didn't move a sufficient amount. Of course, this is because the application is having difficulties with getting the mount to move.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Humayun

I was going to suggest to try the on/off switch, but glad you found it before I could post.
