Unhappy How to Clean Lenses?

Hi,

I saw a finger print on my 20X90Bino’s so I thought, I would use the cloth that came with them to clean them.

Unfortunately this is how they ended up!!!!

I really need to work out how to properly clean my lenses...I kind of used a little spit, & think I have now ended up with multi-coated as opposed to fully coated...LOL

Hence to say, I am scared ****tless, to attempt to even clean my 80ED!

Luckily there is no noticeable difference...touch wood...(only tested terrestrial-hopefully tonight will prove the same?)

What’s the secret guys?

Dave,

Pop down to your local Australian Geographic store and pick up a Lenspen.

I use that now to clean all my lenses (including L-series glass). I also successfully cleared a thumbprint off my ED80 using it.

Here is the Lenspen web site.

Regards,
Humayun

most caera / telescope shops sell lens cleaning fluid or lens wipes or just plain lint free cloths(not many i think use theese)

some of the cloths i have got with chinese gear are terrible and i just throw them away. aust geographic sell a reasonable cloth in a flat disc holder.

Dave without trying to make to much a point on lens cleaning solutions .. hackin up a golly while being really handy at the time probably isn't the best way to go ... though my telrad lenses do cop some fairly sketchy at times so possibly I'm not the best one to comment

Dave,

I knew it'd do the trick.

You're most welcome.
