Issues getting Flash Player to download and install

As the title says I'm having problems downloading and installing Adobe Flash Player. OS - XP (SP3), Interet options - security set to medium, no firewall.

Any ideas?

Hi Paul

Could you detail out a bit more what the 'problem' is?

Can you finish downloading?

Does it run?

Does it not install?

Does it install and not work?

Regards
Wai Hong

Hi Wai.
When I select download and install from the adobe site, the download page opens and the page text and graphics appear but the sample flash images stays with the small box with the red X in it and nothing else happens. In the Status Bar it reads "Done".

The first thing I'd try is clearing your cache then retrying the download/install.

Paul,

Try downloading the file directly onto your computer:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get...ash_player.exe

See if that works.

Hi
There is something odd about the downloading of flash player. I have run programs for over a year now that say I need the latest issue of flash player. I follow the instructions. Sometimes it works automatically sometimes I end up installing it manually.

Most of the time the program that has called it then works OK.

Often within a week I am told by another program that I need flash player. I check my system and according to the program list in windows the latest version is already installed.

In any case I re-install and everything seems to work till next time and then I need to go through the whole process again. I now don't bother. If the program calls for flash player it's bad luck I just don't see it .

Barry

I did a system cleanup the other day and I'm starting to wonder if there has been a registry change of some kind. Normally I don't have any flashplayer problems.

Paul,
Sounds like corruption within flash.
You will have to remove/uninstall it first, then re-install should be ok.
If not, here is a link to trouble shoot it.

At another site recently, (Can't remember which) told of issues where a back door entry has been discovered in the Flash Player Version 9 and 10, subsequently, they have removed the available software, with the promis that an improved version will be available by the end of November, with another warning not to download Vs 9.
