Saw "UFO" last night

Notice I didn't say "saw a UFO"

After more than 8 years I have finally finished watching all episodes of Star Trek (ST, STNG, STV, DS9, STE, Movies I-X) and have started watching UFO after purchasing it more than 3 months ago.

I first saw it in the early 70's, made in 1970 by the same company who made Thunderbirds, when I was in high school and is set in the future (1980) where everyone wears pants suits and women wear copious amounts of purple eye shadow. So if you can't remember the Moon landing, you probably never saw the show.

I was listening to the comentary on the first DVD last night, made in 2000 by the creator, and it was interesting to hear some of his comments. I found it very interesting that almost everyone on the show smokes, even those on the Moon base and in the submarine...obviously they have a huge supply of oxygen. Being the 70's it appears to be a bit sexist with women in short skirts and tight fitting pants. They also commented how in 1970 some of the ideas were rather ahead of the times with several negro key characters and the person in charge of the Moon base is female.

A pity they only made one series though, the second series actually became "Space 1999" and used many of the same models.

So, has anyone else seen the show lately?

Not recently, but I remember the excellent cheesy theme and the "caps" over the alien's eyes!!

Thanks Doug.
I remember watching this a few years ago, when we had Foxtel.
Groovy music!
Gotta love those string singlets.

UFO was a great series. I also have the Corgi series diecast models of Shadow 1 and Angel 1 with "real firing missiles" as the box says.

Have a die cast model of Sky 1, a model of SID and yes watched the wholes series 20 years ago, I've not seen it recently but probably dated like Blake 7, earlier Dr Who series and STOS. Would like to rewatch "Invaders" though.

Cheers

Hi Trevor, I didn't know that Corgi made a model of SID.

My best mate has the full Thunderbirds collectors set from Corgi plus the diorama that you had to send to England for. some night after a few reds we still play with them and fire the missiles and rockets.

Our wives think we are total nutters, they are probably right but you have to be into it to understand.:rof l:

Cheers
