First ever 40d image

Tried my 40d out last night for the first real serious time. PHD wouldn't guide, said stars weren't moving enough, so did 3x20sec exposures(to avoid trailing) in JPG with Canon remote live shooting, aligned in Maxim, stacked in Photoshop CS2 and tickled just a bit for curves, levels and colour. Could have more colour, but that's next time, as is learning how to apply darks in Maxim.
Thanks for looking!!

I take it thats 47tuc?

Looks very nice...

As far as your guiding... PHD did that to me when I had an incorrectly wired guiding cable... hold your cable with the locking clips away from you. Is the wiring identical on both plugs or a mirror image? they should be identical.
Alex.

Doh!! Yes it is 47! SORRY!!I have been experimenting with EQMOD and pulse guiding. I have a GPUSB and extension cable that I bought from Shoestring, so I think they are right, but I will look.
The system gets a bit "iffy" when you use PC Direct Mode on the hand box, so I have ordered an EQDIR and Serial cable to run the EQ6 direct from the computer, totally making the hand box obsolete.
I think EQMOD is fantastic and for freeware/open source, the support is awesome!!
Thanks for looking!

good start, the 40d is a nice camera, try shooting in RAW , then convert to tifs to stack and calibrate. you will find you have more flexibilty to push your processing.

i have had PHD do similar to me, usually ive left the manual guider in the guide slot from when i composed the shot, you could try calibrating at a higher speed (ie 1x or even 2x just to confirm signal is going through)
