Wiruna this week-end

Quick preview at some of the data I got from this week new moon session at Ilford on M42. Got probably 3.5 hours on it and this is just 5x5min quickly stacked to have a peek.

The two nights were an "all you can eat" banquet. Only limited by time and daylight. Now 3 days later, 6 hours sleep and a massive "astro hang over" my head's like a drum... Got heaps of data to keep me busy over the next few weeks but I thought I'd post this quick one as it has a real soft look to it. The color histogram is well balanced and star colours are preserved. The subs are not calibrated yet but the final should come out nice. The field width is spot on for my scope/camera combination. Just the right size.

Only sung once, after a few red wines and a lovely roast dinner on Saturday night, a few bars of Nessun Dorma (Guardi le stelle....!)

The conditions at Wiruna were 100% cloud free with average to ok transparency but crapolla seeing and very windy at times. Luckily my NJP and Starlightxpresss autoguider can soldier through such terrible conditions (amazingly) but the results will never the less be tempered somewhat . ..Sunday morning I was fearing for my equipment at times, thought it would blow over, strangley enough each sub coming down had perfect round stars though, so I kept going, will have softened the images of course but beggers can't be choosers I guess?

Hopefully start on the processing of my two fields tonight..?

Very nice image Marc. The greenish tinge is probably a better representation of a visual view of this object.

Thanks Steven. There's definitely a bit of vignetting in those uncalibrated subs and my camera is sensitive to the green but you're right. This dirty brownish stuff in between does have a greenish tinge to it. I've seen it visually in a very large aperture telescope once around the running man.

One of my mate said the shot looked "very organic". I don't know if it's a polite way to say it looks like s**t
