Highest resolution image done on the Saturn nebula

Hi all
heres one for the long FL RC users to get
on Thursday night last I imaged the highest resolution image Ive ever done on the Saturn Nebula, in excellent seeing. Due to the high dynamic range, in order to get the faint "ansae" I used 2x5 mins and 3x30 second images to also show the very bright central detail.. Ive upsampled it roughly 2x as well. Taken with modded 350D and 10 inch f5.6 newtonian, off axis hand guided with Q guider

As a comparison, here it is taken with a scope of over 4 metres FL

OK you win Scott. Great detailed image. That mirror must be very good. No wonder you carried it by your own hands to get it re-coated. Am I imagining things or does your image show fainter detail?

Absolutely fantastic. Sharp as a tack and beautifully exposed to show the translucence in the nebula. Congratulations

Thanks all
I took care to preserve as much faint outer detail as I could when masking it with the much brighter inner area, the whole dynamic range of the nebula muct be huge, its just impossible to record it in one go, hence the short and longer exposures I used.

I saw it through the Newcastle Societies 12 inch Lightbridge last night, all I could make out was a green fuzzy blob, no chance of seeing the 2 ansae. This is why I love astro imaging, it can capture large faint nebulas and also detail in small bright ones

I've always loved PN's - you've captured this one really really well. Great detail including the brighter areas in the ansae.
