Promising Jetstream Map

Heads up Queenslanders!!!!

It's still a few days away...but finally....at last....we have a reasonable high pressure system making its way above the upper half of the continent!!!

I can't remember the last time I saw this, so it might finally be a sign conditions are shifting in our favour.

Now, as long as other conditions work in our favour (cloud, wind, dust, rain...blah blah blah) we might be in business.

Can you tell I'm a little excited?

If the wind dies down, it might even be quite good tonight. Dennis - I'm ready to drag out the magical seeing cell from under the house!!

Hi Alex.

That map is actually for the weekend (Saturday).

The comment about tonight was just as an aside.

Hopefully you'll get some time on the weekend or even early next week to get out there and have a crack

Let's keep our fingers crossed the pocket of good seeing remains stable and doesn't break down as it travels across...as is often the case.

Easy big fella....

You can't have it all your way.

We'll take whatever we can get after the crappy run we've had up here!!

Anyway, we took a vote and nominated NSW as our sacrifical lamb to appease the weather gods

Wow. You've gone international with your mercenary approach. I can't be a part of sacrificing another country...

But as for Tassie...

Hi Matt

Hmm, that does look promising, thanks for the heads up. I might even have a go at some of the dimmer moons of Jupiter, if I can find a way of locating their expected position on the night!

All my astro apps only show the four Galilean moons.

Cheers

Dennis

Good luck, Dennis. Interesting project.

I'm just keeping an eye on the cloud this arvo. We've been falling into a pattern of late afternoon/early evening cloud build-up

I hope it stays away long enough for us to get some time at the scope.
