80+120+(100x10) and 253

I wondered if my 80mm Megrez would be suitable to capture NGC253 during a full-moon and straight into the light glow from BrisVegas. Took 100x10sec integrations using a Watec 120N+ camera, stacked in DSS and levels in PS.
I was surprised to get anything. Just managed to beat the cloud rolling in.

Not bad at all Allan, considering the moon and brisbanes light glow..

I was going to give 253 a go with my 102mm Megrez last night, but as I hit the goto button, I looked up and the clouds were coming in from the north FAST!! At that point I packed it in...

Well done.

Not bad at all. I was thinking of trying some long Ha shots on the Sculptor galaxies to pass the time untill the moon gets later just to see what happens. Does anyone know if there is a list of southern hemisphere starburst galaxies?

A nice image Allan, especially with all that light pollution to contend with.

Whoa, isn't it nice to take a pot shot in poor conditions and come up with something like that.
A mate of mine did the same thing aiming at the virgo group of galaxies a few months ago with an ED 80. Sometimes the surprises are just as good as the triumphs. Well done.

Thanks for your comments guys. I'm about to verture into the complete unknown as I've just purchased a QHY8 camera and going to do H alpha with it from suburbia. Thanks Alex and Doug for your advice and encouragement to spend my money.
Regards, Allan
