Engaged!
Well, the sad news is that I recently spent all my astro savings on a sparkling rock and some gold. But the good news is that my partner of 7 years Christine and I are engaged!
Just had to share
Roger.
PS.. let's hope the good 'ol classic LX lasts another few years before I need to replace it

Conratulation to you both Roger, might be an idea to just get in and replace your gear before the future spouse takes up the position of Minister for Household Affairs....

Congratulations
All the best for a long and happy marriage. You say your partner has been with you for a while so she is used to the habits of an astronomer - my wife of 25 years says we are different. Don't know what she means

Thanks all
We bought a house together just over 3 years ago, so budgets are well established, including some for astro gear, so no great concerns regarding not being allowed to spend money on astronomy in the future We both share an expensive hobby: photography. So before buying the house we both made our last big purchaes for a while .. me Losmandy GM8, her.. Canon IS 100-400 L & EOS 33

Congrats Roger, just use the ring as leverage to splash out on Astro gear.

First off, Congratulations to both of you! Hope you have many, many happy years ahead!
Don`t forget to let your partner buy heaps of L series lenses for her photography and you shall reap the best of both worlds..
cheers Gary

Thank you again very much to all who have replied. We're starting to come to grips with the concept of organising a wedding. Mamoth task it seems, even though we want it simple.

I'll work on that one Dave, see if I can convince her to allow a picture to appear on IIS

She has got used to the habits of an astronomer, but I must admit we get along a lot better when I'm not staying up until late hours, and waking her up when I finally go to sleep! Astronomy is tough to fit into a relationship I find, and one reason I err on the side of automation.

Yes... Very useful those L lenses Although the 100-400 I have found too problematic for astronomy ...but sharing lenses for normal photography is great

No... Hopefully between september and december next year. We're trying to come to terms with the whole wedding arrangements thing at the moment. It'd be nice if we work out a date in the next couple of months.

Roger.
