Jupiter GSO12 SPC900 16Sept

Hi all,

Very still tonight in Adelaide so I did a quick 3 AVIs
with 9mm Ortho Eyepiece Projection and the SPC900 webcam
with a Baader IR filter fitteed.

Seeing started exceptional but quickly got worse.
It didn't help with the puppy saying hello through
the dome slot occassionally. (heat shimmer)

Regards,
Steve B.

Nice work Steve. A bit of work with the colour and levels and it would look even better!

A nice result Steve, well done.

I hope you don't mind but I put your image through PS and did a quick levels adjustment as your image was very blue.

not bad at all mate..

Have you considered getting the 1.25" nose piece for the SPC900NC and going prime focus + a powermate/barlow?

Thanks for the comments guys,

yes, exactly how bad the colour balance was didn't really occur to
me last night.
I think partly to blame is processing in a totally dark bedroom with only
the LCD monitor on....house asleep, kids all in bed etc.
I compared it to my Jul 26 shot and the Jul shot looked WAY too red so
I left it un-adjusted. That's where I made the mistake.
Looking at it this afternoon in a semi-sun bathed afternoon room and
LCD screen the blue tinge is so obvious.

Alex, yeah I will make the nosepiece in my lathe soon.
I have a choice of 2 inch Alu stock or a few bits that will turn down to
1.25inch so I may make both.
I'd rather make my stuff than buy it It's just me
More fun, thread cutting is the most enjoyable part.

Also, my approach with using E.P. has worked well on the
8"F7 homemade Newt for years, so it's a method I am
most familiar with. I will definately go down the 2x,3x,5x
Barlow path eventually, especially now as I have more image
brightness and can get away with longer equiv f.l. on the GSO12.

regards,
Steve B.
