Help Needed WA

Is there anybody in Perth who can come and assist me setting up my equatorial mount. Being a bit of a novice I have been pulling my hair out trying to set it up. I live in the Vines in the Swan Valley, Plenty of Red Wine and Port if you can sort it out, In fact plenty of Port and Wine anyway

Yours Equatorliales

Bob,

My suggestion would be to get involved in ASWA (see their website). They have various monthly viewing and meeting nights. The Hands On Workshop is probably the kind of place you could get the advice you're after. Other viewing nights might be an option but other observers are more likely going to be keen to do their own observing at those nights, where as Hands On Workshop is about learning and working with equipment.

Roger.

Bob,
What equipment are you trying to setup?

I'm in Landsdale if I can be of help.

I concur with Roger in getting involved with an astronomy group (I'm a member of AGWA - their monthly meetings are usually the first Tuesday of each month at the BTOW shop in Malaga - note next month's meeting is possibly going to be different you'd best call BTOW prior if you are going to attend $5 fee cover coffee & bickies)

Certainly if I can help I will - I'm in Landsdale.

Cheers
Garin

Once again I agree with Roger and Garin, though if you look at the Projects and Articles section there is a post in there about the "Basic setup of a GEM" for now that might give you the right budge in a direction that sees your hair stay put for now GEM's take a bit to get used to with all the different axis moving!

Hi Bob,
No luck with these skies of late. Is the alignment going any better now?

I spoke with one of the AGWA member's who has a LX200 on an equatorial and says he didn't have any issues with goto with it.
If we catch up at one of the meetings I'll introduce you. He's also into astrophotography and can give you some advice on that side too.

Cheers
Garin
