Bingo!GRS & ShadowTransit on 28/8

5x Powermate arrived todayMy first piece of Televue ever. Cannot resist have a go at GRS. Guess what? Io shadow transit as a bonus. Very happy with it. . Taken at 7:30pm with Philips 900nc 10fps. 150frames staked in R4. I still find focusing difficult may need a 10:1 focuser or should I use 15fps instead since image is unsteady.

I was excited like a child last night.I want to improve: Was it poor seeing or was it slightly off focus or both? Mike, how to do RGB align? I do not have AstroImage only Registax4. I used max shutter speed, would it improve if I use shorter shutter speed & increase gain? Is the shadow transit suppose to be round or oval? Sorry too many questions.

Excellent image Vincent! Lovely colour and image scale. Lots of detail as well although there appears to be a slight smearing or trailing.

also.... using 15fps with the 900nc is where it will start to compress the data.... you're better off sticking to 10fps. I too find focusing jupiter hard with the 5x powermate... seems to have a pretty fine critical focus point... a 10:1 crayford is the answer!

I reworked on the avi; followed iceman's advise to align colours plus a bit of tweeking of curves in CS2. This is the result. A bit improved I reckon.

Thanks Jen & WadeH for your kind comments. I am still over the moon. Planned the GRS from the Astronomy Yearbook but the shadow transit was a bonus.Couldn't be happier considering using the Powermate for the very first time

Hey Vincent, Just to let you know if you don't already is that there is a program called Jupiter 2 that lets you know when the GRS will be transiting and when moon shadows or eclipses will occur.
