Thumbs up Arnhem Land Fireball

Had an awesome night out for a beach BBQ tonight.
Saw the 3 best bolides I have Ever seen.
2 were bright green bolides, despite the full moon.
all were moving generally east to west & in the western 1/2 of the sky
One of them was the most awesome "Fireball" I have ever seen !
It started out bright green about 20deg above the horizion In the northwest, then brightened dramaticlly to perhaps Mag -4 to 6 before BURSTING INTO YELLOW FLAMES !
It was bright enought & lasted long enough to make most people there look up in time to see it
I have never seen anything quite like it before, certainly not the yellow flames at the end, Amazing
Makes me think of the experience that 1ponders had a while back.

That sounds cool Ian. And lot's of people saw it!!

When I saw a giant fireball about 5 years ago I was outside on my own. Very hard to explain it to the family when I am pointing and stuttering and getting excited. "That's nice" they'd say.

I was up at the Central Coast at the time.

I can Imagine that Ken
Some of the people there even took some convincing that what they had seen was in fact a Meteor
I had the little Astroscan there & most of the people (in their 40's & older) had never looked through a scope in their life !
The moon just amazed them, with comments like "thats just what it looks like from space".
I think I even have a visiting Doctor from Pt Lincon in S.A, sold on buying a 12" GS Dob (he already has a woobly-a-tronic scope)
