Helix DSI II from Astrofest

This is my final astrofest image from last night - Helix through the 10" newt with DSI II. This is a stack of somewhere between 30 and 50 1 min subs for R and B with the G synthesised using Carboni PS actions.

That looks really good Peter; so much better than the somewhat bleary eyed view at 3:00am this morning! The delicate ribbons of nebulosity fringing the inner edges look gorgeous – top shot! Nice colours.

Cheers

That's a beauty Peter, well done.

There is some lovely natural colour and good detail captured in this image.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments everyone. It worked out better than I was expecting as there were a number of issues with the green and blue channels. I've just about dried out all the gear after a very dewy final night.

very nice peter. you've done well with the DSI II. very pleasing to the eye. The Helix is a very tough object to image.

Thanks Eric. I was pleased with this after some earlier failed attempts. Still a lot of room to improve though - a bigger chip (DSI III) would be handy).
