Southern Delta Aquarid meteors and more !

We are currently in the peak of the southern Delta aquarids, a moderate meteor shower that peaks on the 28, 29 & 30th.
What makes this shower worthwhile is the concurrence with several other minor showers, making for quite a nice show.
I have published a short article on the event http://EzineArticles.com/?id=1350527

Had a look last night and saw 4 in the space of 10-15 minutes.
Will be going out for a look from a dark site tonight

Saw lots of meteors this morning between 2:30 and 4am. Most were fast, short thin ones but there were a couple of bright ones from a different constellation. One went across the SMC and exploded below it (mag -7?) at 3:45am, very impressive. The trail-smoke hang around for a minute or so.

Last two nights my camera captured 17 Southern delta Aquarids meteors. Those meteors range in magnitude 1.3 to –2.3 and velocities between 37km/ses to 50km /sec and were visible for 0.1 to 0.4 seconds. Most of sdA meteors were captured between 2 to 5AM. As Ian mentioned there is also number of minor meteor showers active and also increased sporadic meteor activity. Unfortunately we also have lot of cloud moving overhead, cutting the number of captured meteors.

Great Ob's Ron !
This is one of the characteristics that the SDA's are noted for, having more than the average number of fireballs.

We had our clubs Astronomy night last night, and were meteors galore. I reckon I would have seen at least 10, that was in between playing with, and looking through scopes, so wasnt really looking for meteors. Other guys saw a heap also that I didnt see. Quite a few were in the southern area, short and bright, coming downwards from ? radiant above. Sure adds some fun to Astronomy nights
