Still camera outdoes video referee

Hi
I attended the Newcastle Knights V Rabbitohs rugby league game last Sunday, fiest time Id taken my 450D to a game. These are full res.crops from my 50mm lens, taken a few seconds apart. Adam Mcdougall sucessfully catches the ball off a well timed kick, and gets the ball on the try line. A moment later I was showing my mates the 2nd image, proving it is a try. If any part of the ball touches the line its a try, it doesnt have to cross the line, just touch it. Yet the video referee deliberated for a minute after Id taken my pics, before returning "Try, benefit of the doubt" indicating he was fairly shure but not 100% its a try. yet I knew right away, and from just a still pic hehehehe
Yes, the Knights won the game too, topping off a good day. It bucketed down on the way home but held off for the game.

Great action shots Scott. Until last weekend I had not thought much about sport photography. Now I know the effort is worth it and looking at your shots makes me even more eager to try again.
