LRGB vs RGB Planet Imaging

Hi All,

Well finally I have bought a used manual filter wheel, its the Astroengineering observers filter wheel. Also got some used Astrodon I series True Balance LRGB Filters. Now I need to work out how to use these properly.

I am thinking of starting with RGB imaging only, perhaps a dumb question but can a LRGB filter set be used for RGB imaging? I assume i just dont use the L filter.

Secondly what percantage of the time should each be used? 33%:33%:33%.

Is anyone else using the Astrodon filters for Planet imaing? I would appreciate your advise on do's and donts and any tips you have.

Regards
Fahim

Hi Fahim.

All is revealed here.

Answers all your questions above, and more.

As for the filters, Bird now uses the Astrodon set, not sure if they're the same as the ones you've got.
