I wasn't happy with how I processed the last image I took of the Eagle Nebula. So I decided to reprocess the image. My main goals were to increase the contrast in the nebula and also increase the star colour.
It is the exact same image of the Eagle Nebula, I posted previously but just processed differently.
Let me know what you think.
EDIT: The second image has been touched up in PS to reduce the green noise.
Hi Matt, I was comparing the two side by side. this image has brought out the pillars a bit more but I think you may have lost a bit of the outer nebulosity.
Guiding and colors look pretty good there! Matt.
I think it would look a little better not pushed so hard!
But a good result for a unmodded DSLR.
cheers
the centre area is great, the outer where the data is thinner is a little gritty, try getting the greens with less saturation (lightroom has a brilliant function for this) i havent checked the histogram but i suspect once the greens are gone you could check your black point there could be a little bit there just to help break down the noise....

It is still a good image though.
Thanks Ric,
I personally like this version much better because it highlights the main features a little bit more.

I dont know if I have seen that framed quite like that before, looks very nice.
Round of applause from me.
Well done.

Thankyou Chris,
Yes, the frame does add an extra dimension to the image. From now on that is what I am going to do.

Cheers Gary.
I do agree with you it does look a tad harsh.

overall though its pretty good.
Thankyou for the tip Clive. I put it through Photoshop again and clipped the green channel a little bit. It has really helped with the noise.
Nice work Matt, still a bit of blue channel noise there that filter layers in PS could fix easily. Im assuming this was done with yr 450D?, if so, you should get a website or such, the posted res is woefull (compared to the 450D).
The reprocessed image is coming of age. Starting to show some great signs of detail and colour saturation. As others have mentioned noise is a bit of a problem. This is a constant bane of imaging. Keep at it. Look forward to seeing more.
