M61 & NGCs 4301, 4303, 4292

Only just managed to squeeze in enough clear skies to finish this image off.....in fact, I would prefer a few more hours. Very low for us SH imagers.....it never rose above 48 degrees, and average altitude was 45 degrees. Chucked lots of data away, kept the best for this image.

This is an LRGB totalling 11 hours of M61 and surrounds.

12.5" RC, STL11K, AO-L

Thank you once again.

However, I appear to have missed a trick here. I am now working on a new-build 64Bit Vista box, and while I have calibrated my monitor with a Spyder, the web version of the image is not appearing as it should.

Here is the corrected image...which addresses the background which was too dark, and which brings out the outer arms of M61.

I imagine our Milky Way looks exactly like this galaxy.

I haven't seen this one done before.

I had a quick look at this image last night Martin and thought the same and this is not a major issue but the background still looks a little unaturally dark too in this version on my monitor..?

A lovely rendition of this galaxy particularly given it's declination.

great result in terms of colors! these are perfeclty balanced and very rich!
concerning details, I feel the galaxy does show many of it, but actually it looks a little off focus, or if the seeing was bad.
did you have to apply lots of smoothing filters to the luminacne...?

Didn't see the previous version, but this is a lovely piece of work Martin. Its almost M83 like in its spiral structure. Excellent detail obtained given technicalities/difficulties. This is indeed nice eye candy.
