Simple Counter Weight

When I added a 80mm f/5 scope to my 10" lx200, I found the scope was seriously out of balance in RA, unless the scope was pointing almost due north.

Having no ATM skills, I needed a simple solution.

I had mum make a velcrov strap that wraps around one of the forks on scope.

I bought a small plastic box, 2" x 4", from Dick Smiths used for electronics.
Then I filled the box with some sand. Velcrov was then screwed to the lid of the box.

The box then attaches to the strap on the forks.

The velcrov allows for quick releasing of the counter weight when not needed or for changing which side of the scope needs balancing.

The weight is about 400g.

Very inventive Brendan, we have to do what we have to do, it seems like it did the trick for you, so that is all that counts, good work.
