Triffid and Lagoon

Hi all, It's been a while since I've had a chance to do any imaging due to the weather and other commitments so in desperation I set up last night in the bright moonlight and imaged M20 and M8.

Each shot is 5 x 300sec plus 3 darks taken with an unmodded Canon 350D through an ED80.

Had a tricky time when processing trying to keep the sky dark while trying to bring up the detail - not a big surprise.

Funny how much you forget over a couple of weeks - like waiting to see the first shot to come in after doing some darks for the previous image and realising that you've left the cover on the end of the scope. Better still was the next 5 min shot - didn't focus. How I laughed ha...ha...hmmm.

Anyway, comments and suggestions welcome.

Adam

Adam they've come up beautifully.
The histogram looks nice and you've got v.nice detail !

If you want you can boost the saturation a bit to bring out a bit more colour but it's a fine result you've got with the ED80.

i concur with rocket boy, looks good. a field flattener will help tighten up the corners, your tracking is excellent.

Nice shootin' Tex. Very nice processing, you guys are coming along in leaps and bounds.

I know what you mean about the light Adam. Adrian and I were up at the Observatory last night doing some shots and decided that Omega Centauri was about all that was worthwhile doing. You've done well to get what you have.

Terrific shots there Adam very good detail considering the moonlight. Agree with Andrew just a touch more saturation would finish them off nicely.

Good shots

It's a pity the Moon always has to interfere. Let's hope for a New Moon and clear skies!!!

Colour pumped

Wow, thanks for all of the positive feedback. I,ve seen some shots of what you guys have done and they leave me speechless.

Robert, I saw your Triffid/Lagoon shots when I was about to post my shots. They were so impressive that I almost didn't send in mine.

I've pumped up the saturation and tweaked the levels one more time. See what you think.

Can't wait for the new moon to have a decent crack at them.
