M104

While I don't normally image anything that tends to be in a northerly direction from home....the seeing was pretty good last night....at least until the clouds rolled in....

Sorry, black and white only at this stage.

Fantastic image Peter.

Black and white gives the image a whole new dimension.

Very well done.

Lovely image Peter. I can't wait to see the colour version. That much detail, I have never seen so much detail in Sombrero, in fact didn't know it was visible from this angle.
Waiting with anticipation.

That has some very nice detail and the colour frames should go well to enhance it, will bring out the background galaxies..

Nicely done, Peter. Lots of detail in the disk and a nice, bright star-like nucleus. Very good

Thanks for the feedback. M104 to do really well, from light pollution central at least, is tough.

It's really not very big

I suspect it needs a bigger scope!

(note to self: 2-3 hours Luminance and 1 hour of colour should do it )

Beautiful detail in the dust lanes, Peter. Where abouts do you live, btw?

We've had a few good nights around old sydney town lately. Seeing was great last night. It cleared up about 3am but the fog was terrible.

Lovely Peter, you have definitely done justice to this one with some great detail in the dust lanes. Also all the faint galaxies in the background really set it off nicely.

A great piece of work

Nice image Peter. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't feel the "wow factor" on this target, unlike some of your previous work. The chrominance data has certainly put the finishing touches in place. Perhaps its the target itself that doesn't do it for me. Still, thanks for sharing.

While it's not a shabby M104, I do agree it is a tough target that needs good seeing and focal length. The north sky from where I am glows a nice mercury vapor green....hence I'm still pleased with the result, plus I have a hunch that some more time processing could squeeze just a little bit more out the data

OK Peter, now "THAT" image has some resolution I couldn't get that with my Starfire/NJP I don't think? shows the effect of the highly accurate tracking provided by your AO device I guess?..not to mention your processing skill and that crappy 14.5" RCOS and mediocre PME with ProTrack

Mike
