Which Powermate

Hi guys,

As I am close to sorting out my recently aquired HEQ5pro and I hope to start imaging shortly.
I already have a moded toucam 840k to go with the 8" Newt.

I am looking at getting a Powermate but I am not sure of which one would be best. Is it simply a matter of big is best (i.e. 5 x) or would 5 x be to much magnification for an 8" newt?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Mark

Hi Mark, reckon for a Newtonian you really need the 5x powermate. It is also the most versatile in producing a range of magnifications using different lengths of extension tube.

Mike can confirm.

cheers,

Rob

i have a 2.5x and a 4x and selectively use them according to seeing conditions, more often than not its not good enough for the 4x , but when it is its great. hope that gives you some food for thought.

clive.

I got the 5x from Bintel. I find it quite a challenge to get the object in the CCD field of view when using it with my 10" f5 newt and Neximage which has the same size chip as the toucam. When I do finally find what I'm trying to image it works well.
