Frustration in IIS Classifieds

It's frustrating reading older posts in the classifieds and then finding that the item is already SOLD only at the end of the post (or sometimes the start has been edited with SOLD).

The etiquette of IIS is to put SOLD/FOUND etc into the post header but many people are not doing this.

Also editing the header means that moderators can then move the post to archives.

Ads that are older than 2weeks need to be edited by a moderator..please contact a moderator.

And to be cheeky :

Quoted from IceTrades Classifieds Terms of Service:
Items listed for sale which breach any of the conditions above may be moved or removed.

Those classifieds that have SOLD and NOT been edited in the header are in breach of Terms but have not been removed...Please explain

Thanks for bringing this up Craig. It does make it difficult to keep the archives tidy and contacting sellers to check if the article has be sold or not does take considerable time.

Actually I wouldn't expect the IIS team to be following up on ad posters but then I don't know what you guys like to do.

The members have responsibility to make Classifieds a convenient and worthwhile place to browse.

When a post is older than 2 weeks, the OP cannot edit the header to say it's sold, but they can certainly "reply" to their own post and say it's sold.

In addition, the best way to get an old thread marked as sold, or moved, is to use the "Report Bad Post" button - this brings it to the attention of the moderators, one of whom will take the appropriate action.

Perhaps people could add a post to the bottom of their ad advising that the item is still available if it hasn't sold in two weeks. That way, people wouldn't need to bother reading ads which are more than two weeks old.

Just found the Report Post button.

It is the red square with white X, placed on left end of blue bar at top of each post.

Very often high value items dont sell within two weeks unless the heavy discounting usually needed to sell something on IIS classifieds has been applied.

I've always said theres two logical prices for item.
  1. The price somebody already seeking and considering purchasing new would accept. (value proposition)
  2. Bargain fire sale price to tempt those wouldn't have paid new price in a fit. (Be quick boys!)

Nothing stale about a two week old ad IMO.

I'm unhappy also.

Whenever I see a nice EP for sale, somebody has already beaten me to it.
They always seem to be posted when I am at work
No luck
