Narrowband Trifid

Hi all, captured this one on Saturday night. The Trifid through 13nm narowband filters.

This one was taken through the LX200R 12" with the DSI II using a f/3.3 focal reducer. Exposure time was 21.2 seconds x 100 subs for each filter.

Combined in MaximDL and levels tweaked with Paint Shop Pro.

I'm still on a learning curve with narrowband but I think I'm starting to get there.

Cheers

Nice work to get that detail using a DSI II.
Narrow banding is becoming popular.

Great detail.. Looks either a touch out on the stacking or the scopes alignment wasnt quite right. But still very nice. shows more than I can see...

Great to see some Narrowband images from you again Ric. Well done. On first glance, it looks like RGB, but then you notice the subtle hues of the OIII and Ha. Palette was SHO?

Thanks all for your comments, always appreciated.

Hi Alex, I think at it may have been a touch of both. Something to have a look at and correct.

Hi Jase, I used a HOS palette for this one. I'm working on the SHO version but it's very green at the moment.

Cheers all

Nice start Ric. Play with colour curves a bit more, it looks good a bit flourescent. Youll find the blue blob off to the side is quite subdude in NB (I think ive got this right) the main bit is emmission neb and the blue blob reflection neb, so is very dim with a narrow filter.

Hi Fred, thanks for the tip.

I was concentrating on the reflection neb a bit and trying to balance the two. I'll definitely have another go and concentrate more on the main area.

Cheers

Thanks Matty, I'm keen to get out there but the clouds are spoiling the party at the moment.

Some nice detail in the centre area Ric. You do very well with the DSI 11.
Will be interesting to see your next try on the main area.

Hi all, I've had another go at reprocessing the Trifid this time concentrating more on the the main area of the nebula.

The first one is HOS as before and the second one is using the Hubble palette of SHO

Cheers

Nice work Ric!
Interesting how different features stand out with assigning your narrowband to different channels...
