Happy Birthday to me ---- NOT
Well today is my birthday. It doesnt feel like it though? i am as crook as a robbers dog with severe bronchitis, so much so that it may even stop me going to Qld Astrofest. The wife is sick of me being sick , the kids are bored . So hip hip horay We went to Sydney for my birthday but cut it short by a day and came home .
Being at the zoo on a day where it was extremely windy and cold took its toll.

Heck Huff, how come nobody posted on this, or are you having us gullible Kiwis on?
If it is your big day, have a good one.
Sorry to hear of the bott, it is something you don't even wish on your enemies.
Get well.

Hey Dave
A big, cheery and bright Happy Birthday to you, you battler royale!
Sorry to hear of your ailments and the recent calamities, but I know you’ll pull through as you’re a survivor and one tough hombre.
Take care, rest up and we hope to see you at Astrofest.
Cheers
Dennis

Dave, have a good one and hope you recover soon.
We know why you're sick of course, it's the stress and worry of not knowing whether your recently firesaled equipment will go to a worthy home.
Tell the good wife that her directive to firesale the said goods is causing your health to fail and that the good doctor (Dr Who??) has decreed that only a cessation of hostilities will improve your condition....
If that fails I've included a birthday cake recipe as I couldn't find a way to upload the cake I prepared earlier to this thread.... .
Quote:
Star Birthday Cake
Preparation Time
10 minutes
Cooking Time
85 minutes
Ingredients (serves 12)
- Melted butter or margarine, for greasing
- 200g butter, at room temperature
- 330g (1 1/2 cups) caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 4 eggs
- 450g (3 cups) self-raising flour
- Pinch salt
- 185mls (3/4 cup) milk
- Icing sugar, to decorate
- Hundreds and thousands, to decorate
- Birthday cake candles (better book the fire service in advance as well...)
Method
- Preheat oven to 160°C.
- Lightly grease a round 22cm cake tin with the melted butter or margarine and line the base with non-stick baking paper.
- Use electric beaters to beat butter, sugar and vanilla essence until pale and creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together the self-raising flour and salt.
- On the lowest speed, mix sifted flour into the butter mixture alternately with the milk in 3 separate batches of each. Spoon the cake mixture into the greased and lined cake tin and bake in preheated oven for 85 minutes or until cooked through and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and stand in the cake tin for 5 minutes before turning onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- To decorate, use the star shape above as a guide and cut out a template with a star-shaped hole. Trim the top of the cake to form a level surface and turn the cake upside down on a serving plate making the bottom the top.
- Sprinkle the surface liberally with icing sugar. Carefully place the star-shape template on the cake and sprinkle with hundreds and thousands to form a star on the surface. Decorate with the appropriate amount of candles.

Happy Birthday Dave
get Allan to bring you a bottle of whatever you prefer
send the kids out to find a good lemon tree and the missus off to find a beehive to raid for the honey
then at least you will be left in peace to suffer/recover

Geoff,
I am up the back in my room, away from the house. because I have been coughing and have not slept in a few days - neither has the wife . So i am up the back "sleeping in the office" out of the house completely. So guys and gals I can now say I am officially living in the doghouse

Almost missed the fine print - Happy Birthday Doug - well for another 30 minutes anyway.
And Dave, if you are reading this now - why aren't you in bed getting better! - we'll celebrate later.

now we know the reason for the Fire Sale
you had to get some of the stuff off the bed
and there is nothing wrong with a doghouse - as long as it is big enough for a bed and the Beer fridge
guess i shouldn't be trying to make you laugh with your cough and all
Message to Jeanette !
better send down a couple of Qld girls to nurse him through this so he can make Astrofest
(i mean, it won't hurt - he is allready in the doghouse )
geoff
