check out the Southern Astronomical Society website (
http://www.sas.org.au) who have meetings at the Pimpima School around full moon each month. You may want to e-mail Kevin Dixon (see member contacts) and he might know of some locals that may get together. The society is active with the schools on the Coast and you could alway wander along to one of those nights. The society's dark sky site is just outside Leyburn (south-west of Toowoomba). I am sure there are some more local activities going on though, and if you contact Kevin he will let you know about them.
If you don't mind the drive up to Brisvegas, some of us IISer's have get togethers around the place and your more than welcome to come along to those. Look out for the adverts in the forums
EddieT may know of other happenings aswell as he is also a member of SAS.
