Orion with my Digital Camera

I captured Orion with my el cheapo digital camera on a small tripod from my backyard. I was surprised how well it came out for only a very basic digital camera. I set the camera to night mode and let it do the rest.

The Canon 450D will be arriving soon so I hope that there wont be too many more of these shots.

Thanks for looking.

Hello Matty
Not half bad for el cheapo point and shoot.
Your back yard view is very similar to mine with all the trees and foliage,
Are those overhead powerlines in the foreground?

Thanks,

You are correct. They are powerlines.

I usually don't venture out the back with my scope too often becuase the trees and powerlines get in the way. I always set the scope up in the courtyard where I almost have a 360 degree view of the sky.

Thanks,

It's both... It's a flash.

I took a few without a flash but I can't seem to find them.

Nice Image Matty. You won't know yourself when the 450D arrives.
