Hi Richard,

Gary Kopff here from Wildcard Innovations in Sydney, designers and
manufacturers of the Argo Navis Digital Telescope Computer (DTC).

You can download the entire Argo Navis User's Manual from our web site here -
http://www.wildcard-innovations.com....mentation.html

Also feel free to join the Argo Navis User's Group hosted on Yahoo -
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/argo_navis_dtc/

There are quite a few Argo Navis owners who are also IceInSpace forum members
who may also offer impartial informed opinion.

Argo Navis was chosen a few years back by U.S. Sky & Telescope as one
of its Hot Products of the year. Since its introduction, there have been several
firmware enhancements, including the in-built Telescope Pointing Analysis
System (TPAS) which we recently spoke about at the South Pacific Star Party.

Argo Navis has been installed on just about every conceivable mount type including
Forks, GEM's, Alt/Az/Dobsonian and even motorized binocular chairs.
We ahave the world's largest selection of encoder installation kits.
See http://www.wildcard-innovations.com...._describe.html

Sold the world over, it is installed on thousands of telescopes, including
recently a 48" Dobsonian in Limpia Crossing, Texas. Systems can also be
found on the 72" David Dunlap Observatory in Canada, the Lowell Observatory
in Flagstaff Arizona and is in use on a telescope at the Sydney Observatory.
Argo Navis systems are the pointing solutions of choice on telescopes from
makers such as Obsession. The system can also be interfaced to a range
of third party motor controllers, the most popular being the ServoCAT, for full
slew and track capability.

We receive many testimonials, and here are just a few -

For example, here is what one owner, Doug P. in Virgina, wrote us the other day
with regards his recently acquired 18" Ultra Compact Obsession Telescope fitted with
Argo Navis and ServoCAT. -

Quote:
"Everything about the system is first class. I got to appreciate the
quality and stability of the Obsession-AN-SC integrated scope for the
first time last night. Unbelievable!!! Aligned on Sirius and
Aldebaran and did a GO-TO to Rigel that was it. Every one of 20 objects
distributed all over the sky was in the eyepiece each time. Saturn
tracked dead center in the eyepiece for over 15 min, the longest I took
it. This was my first experience with Obsession movements, servo
motorization, and digital navigation and the whole experience was
fantastic. And all from Leesburg with our bright Washington, DC skies.
AN is proving quick to learn and use, and the 2 star alignment method is
lean and elegant. The encoders are working fine with no slippage. All
parts of this system from Obsession, Wildcard, StellarCAT, OMI, Televue
and Catseye work together seamlessly."
Another owner, Steve, described the Argo Navis and ServoCAT combination
the other day on the Argo Navis User's Group as -
Quote:
"...the AN is the fulfillment of the promise of
my older NGC MAX... really amazing symphony of technology. I think the
SC and AN pair are the most impressive combination in Astro tech
today. I can't think of any other pairing that is even close.
Customer Mike M. wrote -

And thanks for a wonderful product. I love my AN (even though I
don't use it to its full capability yet!). But when I'm
out in the field and have it running it works flawlessly. I'm
usually able to place an object in my ccd's fov which happens to
be quite small. (FS-102 with an ST-402ME).

Your service is top notch and I always recommend anyone looking for
dsc's that this is the one to get.

The more I work with Argo Navis, the more I like it. I had (an older
DSC) for 12 years on my 20 and loved it, but it falls short of my Argo
Navis experience.

I'm very happy with my Argo with TPAS. I love it to death.

Thank you for offering such a great product!

I had it running on a scope the day I got it. It connected to my
encorders and worked like a champ. Well, after using it for about three
months, all I can say is WOW! This thing is way cool! I love the
extra features it has and the descriptions and popular name search as
well as the Tour mode are some of my favorites.

Thanks for a great product and the ever evolving feature set in the new
versions of firmware.

Richard, if you use the search function on this forum, you will find a plethora of discussion about the Argo Navis (AN). It blows its "competitors" out of the water in terms of its intuitive design, and range of functions.

I am sure there is someone in WA who can give you a "play" with theirs if you put out the call on this forum!

As a ARGO NAVIS user for 7 years I think that there is no better DSC on the market, which is so enjoyable to use.

Hi Richard

You've probably found what you need, but anyway... It seems you might not know what the Argo Navis actually is, in which case I offer the following:

The Argo Navis is a device that will tell you where to point your telescope to find things in the night sky, such as stars, planets, clusters, nebulae, etc. It won't move your scope for you like a 'go-to' system does, and is thus known as a 'push-to' system because you have to do the pushing of the scope. (It can be coupled with other devices to turn it into a 'go-to' system though).

You really need to let us know your level of knowledge on these systems and in astronomy in general, and what type of astro equipment you already have, so we can help you more.

PS: I've only had mine a short time and I love it.

I will "29th" the postive comments...The Argo Navis is a wonderful piece of Astro gear and has enhanced my enjoyment of the hobby a great deal.
If you are interested in a DSC/DTC, the AN is top shelf stuff!
