First light with DBK camera

I had the first run with my new Imaging Source DBK 21 USB camera last night and this morning. Seeing last night was pretty crappy (moon, saturn), but a little better this morning (big J). I'm still a bit in the dark about adjusting the camera controls. Do people just push sliders around until things look OK, or is there a more scientific method?

Moon: The chain of large craters (from the bottom) consists of Regiomontanus, Purbach and Thebit.

Jupiter shows Europa in the frame

Scope: WO ZS110 (4.3" APO), with 3X barlow, giving about f23
Camera: DBK 21AU04.AS

Those are very nice images, especially for 1st light through the relatively smaller aperture of the WO ZS110 - well done!

You might want to try saturating the colour a little more for the planets, and I think you may better off recording the Moon in B&W, unless you want the colour content that is. I push & pull the sliders/settings until it looks optimal on the capture screen.

I agree with Dennis, when imaging the Moon try to record it in B&W.

Solar system stuff, especially if I can bludge time on some of the large scopes at Wiruna. I use an Orion Star Shoot (Q guider rebadge) for guiding.
