Occultation of Beta Tauri, 14th March

B Tau, mag 1.7

Reappearance is listed only in Astro 2008 book, i wonder if its possible to see a mag 1.7 star in daylight for the Disappearance!?

Time: 18:35 EST (add 1 hr for AEDST)

Anyone attempting this one??

Theres another nice one on the 15th March, a disappearance at 20:25, 49 Aurigae, mag 5.3 (remember to add 1 hr for AEDST)

Ooops I didn't see your post... sorry for duplicating threads

OccultV4 says the limiting mag. for a 50mm scope is 2.8, so I think it's possible.

I'll have my 10inch with video (IRpass filter) and I'll do it visual with my 8"

Sorry for the delay.

I recorded the D and the R as did others in Australia and New Zealand.

My video of the event can be seen on Youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcvhN72NM8Y

Below are the light curve of the D and a 3D image of the star at the bright limb showing that I can resolve the time for the R to 1/25th second.

so I can now answer your question... "i wonder if its possible to see a mag 1.7 star in daylight for the Disappearance!?"

YES!

enjoy
