Eyepiece case

Hope this is an approrpaite forum for this subject.

If anyone is looking for a cheap but sturdy case for eyepieces etc. you might want to check out this auction.

Not a lot of detail but from experience, the Kinchrome stuff is more solid than some of the similar cases found at your local hardware store.

[I bought some of their big red toolboxes last week - for non astronomy purposes]

Bunnings in Wagga had aluminium ones about the same size for $24 a few weeks back, looked the same inside.

they look great were these a pelican type clone ?.. some of those cheapish aluminim ones look a bit suspect up close glen (though I havn't seen these ones you mention ).. like they look good with with the outside finish and all but underneath its bonded cardboard with sometimes pretty dodgey hinges .

The ones I've seen in Bunnings for $25 or so, have an aluminium extrusion for reinforcing around the lip but the main material that looks like aluminium sheet is actually a composite/cardboard covered with an aluminium foil. The Kinchrome ones are an ABS plastic (according to the description) so would be stronger and more water proof.

More details of this model at http://www.kincrome.com.au/web/catal...number=K070061

Check out the Safe cases at the same website, these are very close to Pelican cases (I think they're the ones sold in Bunnings) - About half way down the page.

The kincrome ones look good, and far far cheaper than Pelican cases.
