Crux over Phillipines

Hi everyone,
not sure if this terrestial or deep space photography..this is a pretty poor quailty shot that I took last Sat morning. I had been in China for work and was heading back to Sydney. Looking out the window I spotted Crux in plain sight. In the 10mins it took me to get the camera from the o'head bin, the sun had started to lighten the background. Focus was basically impossible. Checking the flight progress screen showed we were over Leyte Gulf, near Davao in the Sthn Phillipines.
Details:
39000 ft
Canon 350D, 800ISO, 2 secs hand held, 18-55mm std Canon lens

Just had to take the shot as it reminded me I was on the way home...

cheers
Mark

Hey Mark,

Nice photo op! It's a pity they wouldnt let you take the DOB on the plane and store it in the overhead compartment...!

I am glad you obviously got back home as this shot shows the plane going WEST??? Shoulda rapped on the door and told them to turn SOUTH! - or maybe not......

At this altitude, isnt this the first shot from the newly commissioned Heian Space Telescope (HST2?)

Cheers

Chris

I was sitting on the right hand side, and the plane was definitely heading south
