ASV Messier Star Party

Surprised to see no mention of this event on the forums... so I thought I'd drop a line and give it a because I had a ball.,,

Messier Star Party was put on by Astronomical Society of Victoria last Saturday. It was a huge success. 200+ people, Perry Vlahos did his famous tour of the sky - was very informative to newcomers - I went with a friend who's never been to a star party before and he loved it. We had clear skies dusk to dawn. The ASV's 25" Obsession got a very healthy workout. Friendly folk, lots of interesting telescopes mounts etc, esp some of the clever home made gear. I even took some digital photos of Saturn using the adapter that Dennis was so kind to send me (havent had chance to get it off the camera yet)
