Excellent Greg, I like it, can be such a cool looking field in narrowband, ....and the composition looks veeeery familiar, those fighting dragons look fierce
Funny, our resolutions look about the same too and I was using a 12" and you a 4.5" shows how crap my seeing was in Newcastle...perhaps I should shoot it again now that my conditions have improved ...and I have an observatory now too ..well nearly
Great job mate

Yes it is quite a wide field and as you say an interesting comparison. The seeing was good and the PMX was humming so tracking was superb.
Then again if you did the same with good seeing and your dark skies you would get an even better image. It certainly is NGC6188 season right now.
Greg.

Great color palette. Nice details too. Something's up with the blues though they look a bit muted in the stars. Star profile are a little flat. No gradient in the disc.

Thanks Marc. The stars were something I had attention on during processing. I intended to shoot some RGB for the stars last trip but did not get the chance. I'll work on them some more. Unfortunately that means going back a fair way in the processing chain but I think its worth it. As you know the original stars are purplish with that palette. I don't think I got the formula just right on the stars yet.
Greg.

Fantastic work Greg! I adore this area of the sky in narrowband. You've certainly done it justice. Marc has a keen eye, I noticed the blue channel too. OIII is suppressed due to the overall SII cast. Raising the black point by 31 counts on the red channel in photoshop using levels begins to restore this. I'd be inclined to colour combine or rework clipping masks again to determine if there is a better way (than levels) to achieve the task. Well done. More please...

Cheers Jase. You might be onto something there. I'll be doing more work on this one. Thanks for that.

Thanks David. I was happy with the overall look. That little planetary is a worthwhile target all by itself.

You just inspired me to point the scope somewhere else Greg. The FOV is just awesome from this combo. Would love to see you add more data to this at some stage.

Thanks Bob. I knew NGC6188 looks best in narrowband from other posts here. And my little TEC packs quite a punch.

Thanks Niharika. It is a wide FOV. More data is possible next trip.
