Trying to find this for sale in Oz...

I have been looking into buying a 12" Dobsonian for a while now. I have been looking on the net to see if these http://www.telescope.com/control/pro...oduct_id=27184 are available in Australia, so far I have had no luck. Does anyone here know if it is possible to get them here.

Cheers Craig.

Note the 10" intelliscope with the object locator is twice the price here in Oz compared to the US price...even taking into account the currency differences etc..massively overpriced, highway robbery imo.

The orion distributor in Oz is a joke.

You could get a GSO 10" and add an Argo for a similar price, and have a better product imo.

** Just saw you meant 12", but the above holds, in fact you'd save more money , you could probably nearly go for a 12" lightbridge + argo for that price ($2300)..**

A problem with this scope or so it goes on some of the user groups is the pointing model does not include a lot of stars or celestial bodies for the southern hemisphere.
Stick to a Dob of your choice with ARGO. (Cheaper and better)

Argo Navis DSC for above telescope - $1007
Total - $1756
Views - priceless

All the best with your choice

Just finished doing a search for the Argo Navis DSC. I think I might go with the option of buy a 10" - 12" Dosonian and purchasing the Argo Navis DSC and attaching to the scope. I thought that the computer on the Orion model scopes from the States wouldn't have much for our hemisphere.

Hi Craig,

Firstly thank you to the various respondents who recommended an Argo Navis
and thank you Craig for considering it.

A 12" scope will give many years of enjoyment.

However, one of the advantages that Argo Navis provides is that should you decide to
upgrade to a different mount in the future, say that dream 20" truss pole Dob,
you can always move the Argo Navis and encoders to it, thus ensuring lasting
value for money.
