HEQ 5 Pro - Firmware upgrade - is it possible?

Hi,

I've got an HEQ5 Pro running Synscan version 2.something. Can I upgrade t to 3.2 without having to get a new hand controller? I've had conflicting opinins on this one

thanks

I was of the understanding that it's only version 3 and above that is upgradable.. but that was off the EQ6 forum..I'd imagine the EQ5 would be the same

Yes from what I understand the version 3 and above is upgradable. For older version you have to get the handsets.

Just to confirm the other two replies, the Skywalker Synscan manual says "From version 3.0 onward, the Synscan firmware is user upgradeable." which I would automatically take that it precludes earlier versions. The Synscan is applicable to both HEQ5 Pro and EQ6 Pro mounts.

Hi,

I am not sure about your mount but some versions of the HEQ5/EQ6 can work with the EQMOD drivers and cable. This allows full goto from a laptop which may be a much cheaper option than upgrading your mount.
