PHD and ToUCam

Does the long exposure modification on a TouCam have to be used in conjunction with PHD, or can I just use the normal USB connection of the Camera, rather that the serial plug?

It depends how bright the guide star is.

If it's bright enough that it can be picked up without going beyond 1/5s, then use the USB. If you need a longer exposure, use the serial.
